Let’s PREPARE for your new puppy!
**MOST IMPORTANT to purchase BEFORE puppy pick up**
**NUTRITION matters: The choice you make plays a vital role in the Health and Longevity of your pet**
** FOOD: We feed and highly recommend 4Health . Order here at www.chewy.com or find it at your local Tractor Supply Co.. There is a significant difference in quality so please don’t risk feeding your pup foods that may be recalled or source ingredients from China. DON’T CHANGE FOOD for at least 3 months to avoid tummy troubles. Check www.dogfoodadvisor.com and use ONLY 4-star/5-star food.
** NUVET PLUS WELLNESS WAFERS. All of our dogs & pups get NuVet Plus daily. Why? Supports the Longest-Healthiest life for your pet. Contains vital nutrients missing in ALL processed pet food. Together, this formula nourishes every cell for a long life. Click here: www.nuvet.com/249444 OR Call 800-474-7400, reference #249444 (They also carry natural ear cleaner, shampoos and spot remover for potty training) They offer Auto-Ship which breaks down to about $16 a month.
____ Food and water bowls (stainless steel – avoid plastic which can leach into the food/water )
____ PLEASE be sure to register your microchip
____ ID tag and collar (typically not needed for the first 6 months of age)
____ Puppy waste bags – for those walks. ____Crate or kennel – your puppy will grow into 19″ to 26″ high. After your pup is 8 months of age they will probably not be placed in a crate, so I would not buy the largest crate. Sticking with a crate that will work for your pup until they are 8 months old will likely be a 23″ max. This isn’t ‘cruel’ but actually gives your puppy comfort like a ‘den’ once they adjust to it.
TRAINING: ____ Puppy pee pads – if you plan to train your pup indoors at any time. ____ Clickers for clicker training if this is what you plan to do
____ Paper towels & spot cleaner – for accidents
____ Teething toys (old socks work great, plus they keep their teeth cleaned)
____ Puppy treats – We love NuVet (CHECK INGREDIENTS!) cause upset tummies and then diarrhea ____ Good puppy books – some suggestions:
How to Behave So Your Dog Behaves – by Sophia Yin
The Dog Listener – by Jan Fennel
How to Raise the Perfect Dog Through Puppyhood and Beyond – by Cesar Millan
The Puppy Primer – Pat McConnell’s
____ Shampoo and conditioner – I use an oatmeal based shampoo- NuVet makes one. Don’t use human products- Dogs have different PH and human shampoos are irritating
____ Dog brush and comb
____ Nail clipper
____ Dog tooth brush and toothpaste
____ Ear cleaner
Our mission is to breed high quality pups to bring LOVE, JOY and LAUGHTER to YOUR HOME.
